The RDM Shrimp logo of a shrimp in rain boots

A shrimp farm located a couple of hours south of Chicago, RDM Shrimp not only prides itself on raising fresh, delicious shrimp, but also helping aspiring shrimp farmers across the globe get started in aquaculture.

OBJECTIVE

RDM’s original content management system and website was dated, difficult to update, and not secure. With both a local and international customer base and buyer profiles ranging from educators to farmers, a fresh, easy to update website was needed to explain where and what product to buy, how to get a tour, and how to get started with a shrimp farm themselves. Also needed were updated brochures for the many agritourism farm visitors and business cards used to spread the word.

OBJECTIVE

RDM’s original content management system was dated, difficult to update, and not secure. With both a local and international presence, a fresh, easy to update website was needed to explain where to buy their product, what was available to purchase, and how to become a shrimp farmer. Also needed were updated brochures for the many agritourism farm visitors and business cards used to spread the word.

SOLUTION

To provide RDM Shrimp with the website their bustling business deserved while empowering them to update and upload content, the site was moved to WordPress. A fresh, nautical color palette brought life to the formerly dreary site while bringing the sense of fun found at the farm to the website visitor. Clear information was created and placed in an intuitive way to ensure farm visitors, future shrimp farmers, and the busy stream of media inquiries could all navigate to the information they needed.

RESULTS

With the new website live, results were quickly apparent. Sales inquiries from potential shrimp farmers increased by 1,900%! The websites biggest catch? The notice of and a visit from the Governor of Indiana, who was so inspired by RDM Shrimp he decided to make aquaculture an industry of focus in the state.
